Sachin Tendulkar is the Cricket God of India, as he is praised and celebrated by the people in India and the cricket fans around the world. He was born on 24th April, 1973 in Mumbai and he is an Indian professional cricketer and rated as the greatest batsman ever seen by India. He started learning cricket at the age of 11 and he was selected to the Indian cricket team at the age of 16. He may not be a brilliant student in his studies, but he was outstanding in sports at his school days and he scored individual 329 runs partnered with another student, the first wicket partnership being 664 in a school match. At that time he was only 14.

Sachin Tendulkar showed his calibre in international cricket when he scored a pair centuries against the mighty Australia at the age of 18 and scored a big 179 against West Indies in 1994. At the age of 23, he was appointed as the captain of the Indian cricket team for the 1996 world cup. Even though his own team did not perform well, he finished as a top run scorer in that series. He is unmatchable and he scored his 35 the test century against Sri Lanka in 2005. In 2007, Sachin completed 15000 runs in the international one day essays and his thirst did not end there and he completed 13000 runs in Test crickets in January, 2010. Overall, he has scored about 16000 runs in test matches and about 18000 runs in one day internationals, which is a great record to be beaten.

In 2011, he reached another milestone of winning the world cup for India, which is the first of its kind in his long career and second victory in one day cricket history. To his credit, Sachin Tendulkar has scored 100 centuries in both tests and one day internationals and this is a great record yet to be beaten by any cricketer in the world. Besides his batting talents, he is also an occasional spin bowler and will bowl both off and leg breaks. He has captured a good number of wickets and has shined as a bowler at the time of crisis.

The prolific run getter Sachin Tendulkar was conferred with the highest civilian award Bharat Ratna in February, 2014 by the Government of India, when he was only 40. Earlier, he has been awarded with Padma Vibhushan, Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award and many more. He is also a Member of Parliament in Rajya Sabha. He is married to Anjali and has two children.
