Hereditary
balding is generally accepted as a common problem in susceptible men, but
an equal number of women are also affected, starting after puberty, because
of the effect of dominant genes on both sexes (see Myths and Misconceptions
of Women with Hair Loss)
Appropriate and effective topical preparations are available and will be
prescribed.
Hair Loss due to genetic abnormalities, internal disease (i.e. Lupus, thyroid
abnormalities, etc.) and scaring alopecias are also evaluated.
